Italian actress Silvana Pampanini died January 6th at the Gemelli Hospital in Rome, she was 90 years old. Pampanini was hospitalized in October and had been operated on for an abdominal problem. Silvana Pampanini was born in Rome on September 25, 1925 and began acting after entering the Miss Italy contest in 1946. She had huge success in the 1950s and was one of the most famous Italian actresses in the world, before that of Sophia Loren and Gina Lollobrigida. She appeared in one Euro-western: Io sono il capataz (The Return of Pancho Vila) as Rosa de Fuego.

French screenwriter, novelist, musician and singer Eric Kristy, who created the French TF1 series ‘A Woman of Honor’, passed away Tuesday, February 2 at the age of 64 years. He was the author of several crime novels and a writer of many television series. As Eric Christy he sang the main theme song for the Claude Bolling score for “Lucky Luke: The Ballad of the Daltons” (1978).

Aldo appeared in four Euro-westerns: “Samson and the Slave Queen” (1963), “Zorro the Conqueror” (1968), “Quintana: Dead or Alive” (1969) and “Zorro the Dominator” (1970). Aldo was married to actress Clara Bindi.

Russian composer Georgy Firtich died in St. Petersburg, Russia on January 27, 2016. He was 77. He was a Soviet and Russian composer, jazz pianist, and professor Herzen University. Firstich received an honored Art Worker the Russian Federation. He composed the score for Armed and Dangerous (1977).

French stage and film actor Marc Cassot died in Paris, France on January 21, 2016. He was 92. Born in Paris on June 16, 1923, Cassot was first a theater actor then went into films but was best remembered as a voice dubber for such actors as Paul Newman, Steve McQueen, Richard Harris, Christopher Lee and many others. He voiced actors and animated characters in over one hundred films. As far as Euro-westerns go he was the voice of a guard in “God Forgives.. I Don’t (1967) and the voice of George Peppard in Cannon for Cordoba (1970).

Renowned Italian director and screenwriter Ettore Scola died in Rome on Tuesday January 19, 2016. He was 84. Scola was born on May 10, 1931 in Trevico, Campania but moved with his parents to Rome as a small child. There he became one of the greatest directors and screenwriters of Italian cinema. He was known for Il Sorpasso (1962), A Special Day (1977) and The Dinner (1998). His one Euro-western was as a screenwriter on The Terrible Sheriff (1962).

Italian film, radio, TV, voice actress Antonella Steni died yesterday in Bologna, Italy she was 89. Steni was a very popular film and TV actress in the 1960s teaming with Elio Pandolfi in a number of films and projects. Stefanini Antonietta in Montefiascone, Lazio, Italy on December 3, 1926 she started in vaudeville at a young age and then progressed to films, TV and film dubbing. She appeared in only one Euro-western Bastard Go and Kill as Maria in 1971.

Marco Giusti has reported that Italian supporting actor Umberto Raho died in Anzio, Italy on January 9. He was 93. Raho appeared in 12 Euro-westerns including My Name is Pecos (1966) as Umberto and Pecos Cleans Up (1967) as Pinto, both films starred Robert Woods, The Bang Bang Kid (1967) as Reverend Garrett Emerson Langry, 15 Scaffolds for a Killer (1968) and Drummer of Vengeance (1971) as the Mayor.

Italian actor, director Franco Citti died in Rome today January 14th at the age of 80. Born in Rome on April 23, 1935 he was the son of actor Santino Citti and brother of director, screenwriter, actor Sergio Citti. Best known for his lead role as Vittorio "Accattone" Cataldi in Piero Pasolini’s 1961 film Accattone, Citti also appeared in The Godfather: Parts I and III in the role of Calo. Franco appeared in two Euro-westerns: Kill and Pray (1967) as Burt and as Hoagy in Kill Them All and Come Back Alone (1968).
