Hungarian theater, film and voice actor László Sinkó died on July 31, 2015. In Budakalász, Hungary. He was 75. Sinkó was born in Budapest on March 18, 1940 and was a founding member of the Budapest Katona József Theatre in 1982. Although mainly a theater actor László was also an active voice dubber and was the Hungarian voice of Peter van Eyck in 1968’s Shalako and an unknown actor in 1972’s Tecumseh.

KÜLOWThis page is our personal hall of fame. A reminder to us all that even though considered a B-genre, Spaghetti Westerns were full of great characters, played by great people. Many have passed away, and while we are young growing up re-watching all these classics, many more will probably leave us. May they be remembered. What follows, is a work-in-progress, a growing list of legends who have passed away...

The famous Russian actor Mikhail Svetin died August 30th in Gatchina , Leningrad, Russia at the age of 85. He was born Michail Solomonovitch Goltsman on December 11, 1930 in Kiev. During his long career Mikhail Svetin starred in such films as ‘It Cannot Be!’ (1975), ‘The Twelve Chairs’ (1977), ‘Beloved Woman of the Mechanic Gavrilov’ (1981), ‘The Magicians’ (1982) and many others. His only Euro-western appearance was as the pharmacist in 1987’s A Man from the Boulevard Capucines

Director, actor Peter Kern died in his home town of Vienna, Austria on Wednesday August 26, 2015. He was 66. Born on February 13, 1949, Kern was began his professional career as a singer in the Vienna Boys’ Choir. This led to an role in a German version of the musical “Hair”. He would go on working for such directors as Rainer Werner Fassbinder, Hans-Jürgen Syberberg, Wim Wenders and Werner Schroeter. He began his own career as a director with “Die Wasserlilie blüht nicht mehr” in 1980 and would go on direct over 25 films and act in over 70. His lone Euro-western appearance was as George Grosz in the 1974 documentary film “Karl May”.

The Mexican actor, director and producer Mexican Julián Pastor, credited with six Ariel nominations, died last night at the age of 71. Pastor, who also excelled as a writer, editor, set designer and writer for theater, film and television, directed more than 30 films in his career and appeared in more than seventy national films. He played Padre Salvatierra in the 1971 western documentary Kino and as a soldier in the 1991 Euro-western Bandits.

Russian stage and film actor Lev Durov died in Moscow, Russia on August 20th. He was 83. Durov was a much beloved actor in Russia and appeared in over 200 films from 1955-2014. He was remembered by colleagues not only for his acting ability but his sense of humor. He appeared in two Euro-westerns: Armed and Very Dangerous (1977) as Lucky Charlie and the coffin maker in A Man from Boulevard Capucines (1987).

Italian producer Alsonso Sansone died in Rome on August 19th. He was 91. Sansone along with his partner Henryk Chroscicki produced and distributed many films and documentaries during the 1950s through the 1970s in Italy. He was the producer of such Euro-westerns as: Death Rides a Horse (1966), Day of Anger (1967), Beyond the Law (1968), It Can Be Done… Amigo (1970), The Grand Duel, and Massacre at Fort Holman both 1972


  • LORITZ, Katia - 11/4/1932, Arbon, Switzerland - 8/16/2015, Madrid, Madrid, Spain

Swiss born actress Katia Loritz died of lung cancer in Madrid, Spain on August 16th. She was 83. Trained in Germany, the actress moved to Spain in the mid-1950s and became a regular in the Spanish films of the late 1950s and 1960s. Katia retired from the screen in late 1960s only to make a return in appearance in Pedro Almodovar’s 1984 film ¿Qué hecho yo para merecer esto?. During her last years she devoted herself to painting and held several exhibits. Loritz appeared in only one Euro-western 1964's Joe Dexter as Susan Lee/Mary Blue.


  • FUSCO, Fernando - 10/10/1929, Ventimiglia, Liguria, Italy - 8/10/2015, Villa Serena, Sorrento, Italy

Italian comic book artist and illustrator Fernando Fusco died on August 10th. He was 85. Born on Octobert 10, 1929 in Ventimiglia, Italy, Fusco worked for various publishing and comic book companies since 1948. From 1973, he was part of Bonelli's team of artists that worked on 'Tex Willer' stories. Fusco worked exclusively on this character until 2010, when he decided to focus on painting. With nearly 7,000 pages on his name, Fusco's version is one of the best-loved among 'Tex Willer' fans.
