Synopsis

TV adaption of the novel "Martin Eden" by Jack London. The former sailor Martin Eden falls in love with the educated and cultured middle-class woman Ruth. He wants to excel as a writer. After a series of failures, living in poverty and in difficult conditions, and after he loses the love he longed for and falls into alcoholism, he unexpectedly gains popularity, fame and wealth.
