Krista Nell.jpg

Aka Doris Kristanel, Doris Cristanel, Doris Kristanell, Christa Nelli, Christa Nell (and other variations thereof)

There is no reliable biographical data on Krista Nell. Wikipedia states that her real name was Doris Kristanel and that she was born in Vienna, Austria, on January 21, 1946, and died of leukemia in Rome, Italy, on June 19, 1975. However, various contemporary magazine articles and a comment on a blog make it seem likely that she grew up in Italy, in Naturns near Merano, South Tyrol (where she was probably born), and that her real surname was Christanell, as there are many people of that name living there. In any case, she was in England in 1965 and went from there to Paris, where she landed a tiny role in Jean-Luc Godard’s Pierrot le Fou.
