His father was Bernard Browne, a director of photography who worked with Alexander Korda at Denham studios. A few of the films he worked on were: “Battle of Britain” (1969); “Catch 22” (1970); t”A Bridge Too Far” (1977); “Krull” (1983); “A Passage to India” (1984); “The Jewel of the Nile” (1985); “King Kong Lives” (1986); “Gorillas in the Mist” (1988). Browne worked as a model unit director and cameraman on the 1986 Euro-western “Sky Bandits”.


Frederick William ‘Fred’ Nolan died at his home in Chalfont St. Giles Buckinghamshire., England, U.K. He was 91. Fred was born in Liverpool, Merseyside, England, U.K on March 7, 1931 and was the foremost authority on Billy the Kid. Fred wrote several books on Billy and the Lincoln County War and also the screenplay for British produced film “Birth of a Legend: Billy the Kid & The Lincoln County War” (2011). Besides that, Fred was the English language translator of all the Lucky Luke comic books.

Veteran German actor and voice dubber Eckart Dux died in Sassenburg, Lower Saxony, Germany on April 9th he was 97. Born Eckart Herman Dux in Berlin on December 19, 1926. Dux completed his training as an actor with Else Bongers in Berlin and made his stage debut in 1948 at the city's Renaissance Theatre. He then had numerous roles on the Berlin stage and in theatres in Munich, Hamburg, Frankfurt and Stuttgart. He also had many roles as a character actor in film and television. From 1949, he became the longest active German-speaking voice actor, dubbing Hollywood films into German. In the 1950s and 1960s he was regularly the German voice of Audie Murphy. He also dubbed Anthony Perkins in many roles including Psycho, Steve Martin, Fred Astaire, George Peppard (in the action series The A-Team) and Jerry Stiller. He has also worked as an actor and narrator on radio and audio books. Dux was married to the actress Gisela Peltzer in the 1950s, and then later to the editor Marlies Dux [1945- ] in 1970. Dux’s work in Euro-westerns consisted of appearing as Jimmy in the 1964 TV western film ‘Prairie Saloon’ and he was the German voice of Mark Damon in “Ringo’s Golden Pistol” and Phillippe Leroy in “Yankee” both in 1966. Brad Harris in “Rattler Kid” 1967, George Hilton in 1968’s “The Ruthless Four”, Christian Duroc, J. P. Compain the 1969 TV mini-series “The Leatherstocking Tales”. He was Dean Reeds voice in “Adios, Sabata” and the voice of Lucky Luke in both the animated “Lucky Luke: Ballad of the Daltons” in 1978 and “Lucky Luke: The Daltons on the Run” in 1983 and as Sam Hawkens in 2009’s “WinneToons - Die Legende vom Schatz im Silbersee”.


RIP Walter Maestosi. Italian theater, film and TV actor Walter Maestosi died in Rome, Italy on June 12, 2022. He was 87. Born in Rome on September 24, 1934, after graduating in law, Maestosi graduated in 1960 from the National Academy of Dramatic Art and began his career in theater, landing almost immediately also in the radio prose of Rai. Particularly active in this area, he participated for Radio Rai in more than a thousand productions including radio dramas, comedies and cultural programs of various kinds. In the second half of the 1960s, Walter Maestosi became a well-known face on television by participating in many Rai dramas, such as ‘Le inchieste del commissario Maigret’, ‘Ritorna il tenente Sheridan’, ‘Sheridan, squadra omicidi’, ‘Un certo Harry Brent’, ‘Nero Wolfe’, ‘La donna di picche’. Maestosi has also acted in the cinema: he appeared in about thirty films including three Spaghetti westerns: “In a Colt’s Shadow” – 1966 as a Mexican bandit; ‘El Rojo’ as settler and ‘Ringo’s Big Night as John Crowl, both 1967. He also dubbed two other Spaghetti westerns: “Death Rides a Horse” 1967 (Romano Puppo) and “Beyond the Law” 1968 (Carlo Gaddi).

Although he had musical interests, he discarded them because he considered that he did not have enough preparation. He made his film debut in 1967 with the film “Los caifanes”, where his performance as El Azteca which earned him the national Silver Goddess Award. Subsequently, he would obtain other awards and recognitions such as the Ariel. Ernesto’s only Euro-western was as the witch in 2006’s “Bandidas” with Penélope Cruz and Salma Hayek.


Legendary French actor Jean-Louis Trintignant died in Gard, France on June 17, 2022, of old age. He was 91. Trintignant, one of France's greatest actors had his acting career shadowed when his life was plunged into tragedy by the murder of his daughter at the hands of her pop star boyfriend. Trintignant was devastated when Marie, an actress, was beaten to death by rock star Bertrand Cantat in a hotel room in Lithuania in 2003. She was 41. Yet nine years later he returned in triumph in Michael Haneke's Oscar-winning "Amour", playing a man in his eighties struggling to look after his wife after a stroke. It also won the Palme d'Or at the Cannes film festival, where Trintignant made a final emotional return in 2019 aged 88 despite being weakened by cancer for a sequel of "A Man and a Woman", the 1966 love story that made his name. Jean-Louis appeared in only one Euro-western as a mute gunfighter named ‘Silence’ in the 1968 Sergio Corbucci directed “The Great Silence” with Klaus Kinski and Frank Wolff.

Spanish voice actor and dubber Jordi Varela passed away in Spain in June 2022. His age is unknown. He was a big name in dubbin video games and was most famous as the Spanish voice of Professor Hershel Layton of the Nintendo series. Important adventures such as Professor Layton and the Mask of Prodigies , Professor Layton and the Specter's Call or Professor Layton and Pandora's Box will forever remain in our memory. Varela was the Spanish voce of Mayor Thadeus Collins in the 2005 animated film “Lucky Luke: Ballad of the Daltons”, he was also the narrator in “Lucky Luke” 2005.

Karin had an early passion for acting and she modeled around the world since the age of nineteen. Karin was a SAG-Aftra actress & professional model. She is credited with TV shows such as; ‘New Girl’, ‘Young & Hungry’, ‘Matador’, ‘Sangre Negra’ and one Spaghetti western in 2019’s “Once Upon a Time in Deadwood” as Ursula with Robert Bronzi.

He started his career as a Chanson Singer-Songwriter, having given several concerts at the Olympia and Bobino concert halls and wrote several songs for the likes of Mireille Mathieu and Nino Ferrer. He also notably adapted and performed songs for the French version of “Jesus Christ Superstar” as well as the stage adaptation of “The Umbrellas of Cherbourg”. Having trained as a musician also allowed him to sing in his animation dubs (such as Lumière's music numbers in “Beauty and the Beast”, again). After studying at the Babelsberg Film School, he acted in various theaters in the GDR. In 1970 he became a permanent member of the ensemble at the Deutsches Theater in Berlin. His career took him from the theater stage in front of the camera to behind the microphone - as a voice for others. The actor died in Munich, Germany on May 24, 2022 at the age of 91. Born in Berlin on September 24, 1930. In addition to his role as Bishop Rossbauer, Sachtleben was also involved with guest appearances in other TV productions. For example, he was seen in "Tatort" and in the series "Der Alte" and "Der Kommissar".
The actor's voice went on to have an international career - as a dubbing actor, Sachtleben lent it to Peter Falk as investigating Inspector Columbo and to Jim Broadbent in the role of Professor Horace Slughorn in "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince". Sachtleben also was the voice behind Niles, the butler in the sitcom "The Nanny". Many have passed away, and while we are young growing up re-watching all these classics, many more will probably leave us. May they be remembered. He started his career as a Chanson Singer-Songwriter, having given several concerts at the Olympia and Bobino concert halls and wrote several songs for the likes of Mireille Mathieu and Nino Ferrer. He also notably adapted and performed songs for the French version of “Jesus Christ Superstar” as well as the stage adaptation of “The Umbrellas of Cherbourg”. Having trained as a musician also allowed him to sing in his animation dubs (such as Lumière's music numbers in “Beauty and the Beast”, again). He dubbed Arnold Schwarzenegger in the French versions of all his films since 1987. Daniel was also the announcer for the French radio RFM from 2000 to 2008. His daughter, Barbara Beretta, is also a professional voice actress. He quietly retired for health reasons in the early 2020s. Daniel Beretta appeared in one Euro-western “In the Dust of the Sun” in 1971 as Hawk Bradford.
