This page is our personal hall of fame. A reminder to us all that even though considered a B-genre, Spaghetti Westerns were full of great characters, played by great people. Many have passed away, and while we are young growing up re-watching all these classics, many more will probably leave us. May they be remembered. What follows, is a work-in-progress, a growing list of legends who have passed away...

Italian director, writer and actor and voice dubber Carlo Croccolo died in his home town of Naples, Campania, Italy on October 12, 2019. He was 92 years-old. Croccolo started his career in the 1949 comedy film “I pompieri di Viggiù” sppearing with the great Italian comedian Totò. He would then go on to appear in over a hundred films. He won a David di Donatello in 1989 for his interpretation of “'O re”, the historical film by Luigi Magni. He was known to Euro-western fans under the pseudonym Lucky Moore as he directed, wrote and acted in three westerns: “The Sheriff was a Lady” (1964) as Sheriff Mickey Stanton; “Black Killer” (1971) as Deputy Fred which he also directed as Lucky Moore; “Gunman of 100 Crosses” (1971) as Slim which he also directed as Lucky Moore, and wrote the screenplay.

Brazilian actress Esmerlinda Barros has died she just celebrated her 75th birthday on September 4. Born in Ilhéus, Bahia, Brazil, a mulatto, Esmerlinda started as a dancer in the nightclub shows of Carlos Machado aka "The King of the Night". She appeared in the local Renaissance Club’s beauty contest in 1964 where the winner goes on to appear in the Miss Brazil contest. Many feel she finished second in the Renaissance Club contest because of her professional status as a performer. Barros attracted enough attention to be offered film roles in Brazilian and Italian films and television novellos. While in Italy she was called Esmeralda Barros and appeared in six Euro-westerns but her most remembered role was as Eva the savage jungle girl in "Kong Island" (1968) with Brad Harris. Later she appeared in the July 1976 edition of the Brazilian Playboy. After her career ended she returned to Brazil and as of 2011 was a grandmother and living happily in Rio de Janeiro. Esmeralda appeared in eight Euro-westerns: “Run, Man, Run” (1967) as a waitress; “And for a Roof a Sky Full of Stars” (1968); “God May Forgive You, Not Me” (1968) as Conchita; “Django’s Cut Rate Corpses” (1971) as Pilar; “A Man Called Django!” (1971) as Lola; “Paid in Blood” (1971) as Zelda; “God is My Colt .45” (1972) as Paquita and “Where the Bullets Fly” also 1972 (as a whore)


  • EFRON, Marshall - 2/3/1938, Los Angeles, California, U.S.A. - 9/30/2019, Englewood, New Jersey, U.S.A.

American actor and humorist Marshall Efron died from cardiac arrest at the Lillian Booth Actors Home in Englewood, N.J. on September 30, 2019. He was 81. He was originally known for his work on the listener-sponsored Pacifica radio stations WBAI New York and KPFK Los Angeles, and later for the PBS television show The Great American Dream Machine (the original showcase of Chevy Chase). Efron also produced features of his own such as A Satirical View. Marshal Efron was also the author of a number of children's works such as Bible Stories You Can't Forget: No Matter How Hard You Try. He also starred in the Sunday-morning television program Marshall Efron's Illustrated, Simplified, and Painless Sunday School on CBS from 1973 to 1977. Efron appeared in one Euro-western as the Mexican bartender in the opening cantina scene in 1971’s ‘Doc’ starring Stacy Keach and Faye Dunaway.

Czechoslovakian pop singer Karel Gott, who became a star behind the Iron Curtain, has died. He was 80. Gott died late Tuesday October 1, 2019 at his home in Prague after battling a long illness, his wife Ivana said in a statement. Gott recently announced he had acute leukemia. Gott released some 300 albums starting in the 1960s and sold tens of millions of copies in his country, the Soviet Union and elsewhere in the Communist world. But he was also a rare example of a pop singer from Eastern Europe whose music became popular in some Western European countries, especially in West Germany. "The golden voice from Prague" as Gott was called in that country, had one of the biggest hits there with "Maya the Bee" ("Die Biene Maja" in German), the title song from a 1970s cartoon television series. Gott appeared or was heard in three Euro-weterns: Karel Gott: Zdvorilý Woody (TV) - 1963 (Woody); Revue pro banjo – 1963 where he also sings duet “Nestálá láska (Careless Love)”; Lemonade Joe – 1964 sings: “Oh Ye Gods, What a Dime Drink”.

Canadian actor, director, producer, playwright, father, friend John Evans passed away at his home in Toronto surrounded by love on September 28, 2019, following a diagnosis of cancer ten months ago. He was 76. John Franklin Evans was born in Macedonia on March 10, 1943 nd brought great precision and deep feeling to his craft. He was warm and supportive of those he worked with, but he was not known to suffer fools gladly, and if that happened to include the director, so be it. John was married to actress, singer, dancer Lyne Tremblay and the two had two daughters Michelle and Lisa. John appeared s Lyle in the 1976 Euro-SiFi-western “Welcome to Blood City starring Jack Palance and Keir Dullea.


  • PADOVAN, Marta(Conxita Alà i Miquel) - 1/9/1938, Poblenou, Barcelona, Cataluna, Spain – 9/29/2019, Barcelona, Barcelona, Cataluna, Spain

Spanish film, TV and voice actress and theater actress died in Barcelona, Spain on Sunday September 29, 2019. She was 81. Born in Poblenou, Barcelona, Cataluna, Spain in 1938 she made her film debut at the age of 20 in “La muralla” (1958) directed by Luis Lucia. She would go on to appear in more than 60 film and television series. In the 1980s she turned to the theater and even started her own company ‘Romea Theater’. Padovan was also very active as a voice dubber and was best remembered as the voice of Roseanne Barr in the TV series “Roseanne”. She appeared in two Euro-westerns; “Ruthless Colt of the Gringo” 1965 in the role of Lois Duvall and “The Secret of Captain O'Hara” (1966) in the role of(Mary McQueen/Mary MacQuint.

Colombian actor Rodrigo Obregón died in Barranquilla, Atlántico, Colombia on September 25, 2019, due to complications of prostate cancer he suffered from. He was 68. Obregón was born in Montélimar, Rhone-Alpes, France on October 28, 1951. He was the son of painter Alejandro Obregón and choreographer Sonia Osorio. Rodrigo appeared in two Euro-westerns: “Django Strikes Again” as a henchman of 'El Diablo' Orlowsky played by Chrisstopher Connelly and as Kaspar in 1994s’ “Jonathan of the Bears” starring Franco Nero.
