Synopsis

In a tavern in the middle of a deep canyon, Mike and Bill inquire from the innkeeper about the possibility of occupying a claim to pan for gold. The only other guest, Old Abraham Cunnings, tells them about the last untouched place in Deaf Creek, but there's no gold there. Apart from those two, only the old gold digger Anderson, called the Swede, hangs around. He would like to buy a claim, but the ones that had gold are already demolished. Mike and Bill register a claim and pretend in front of the Swede that they have found gold. They sell him the claim for eighteen hundred dollars and are quite surprised when the Swede actually finds gold there and fills one can after another.

Trivia

In 1970-1971, screenwriter Jiří Křižan and director Zdenek Sirový realized three short films based on the stories of Jack London. These genre miniatures were presented independently and as parts of the episodic film Kanon samé zlato (1972). The other two shorts are Kaňon samé zlato and Poslední výstřel davida sandela.
