• Mein Name Ist Nobody PAL Region 2 German Paramount DVD - One of my favourite Spaghetti Westerns of all time, second only to "Once Upon A Time In The West." Occasionally disjointed, perhaps to be expected with two creatives sharing the directors seat, but nevertheless a work of cinematic art. A film as much concerned with Western Movies as the West itself, the story is full of twists and turns, you never know "Nobody's" real intentions until the very end. The interview with Terrence Hill on the second disc of this set is very enlightening, Leone wanted to put the "Trinity" character into a serious setting. Hill's portrayal of "Nobody" is exemplary, watch his expression change to DEADLY SERIOUS whenever "Jack Beauregard" pushes him just TOO far. The scene with the train driver in the toilet is hilarious and typically Leone's, apparently improvised by Hill and Leone themselves. Morricone yet again enhances the humour, suspense and fear with great music, although some scenes seem to use traditional Mexican tunes. The print used for this dvd has been beautifully restored and is on the whole stunning, there are a few glitches though.--The Halitosis Kid 10:32, 4 December 2006 (CET)

In the end Leone directed a few scenes himself, but more important was that he supervised the making of the film to such an extent, that his style is evident in nearly every scene. The virtuosically directed film mixes SW style with Trinita like comedy and Peckinpah like twilight western themes about the decline of the west. The mix works mostly very well except for some parts in which the comedy is only there for comedy reasons, and then turns plainly into inapt slapstick. But the highlights of My Name Is Nobody still belong to the most beautiful scenes within the SW genre. // by Stanton
