With a Spanish director and a predominantly Spanish-Latin American cast, the film is often closer to a classic Spanish drama about redemption than a spaghetti western about revenge. Rather episodic and sometimes confusing, it still is an interesting film, with a powerful opening and a bizarre conclusion, set in and around a bullring. Casting for this production was a bit odd: Borgnine, virtually the only American in the cast, plays a Mexican, while most American characters are played by Spanish and Latin American actors. – [[User:Scherpschutter|Scherpschutter]]

Trivia

The circuitous Italian title Quei disperati che puzzano di sudore e di morte translates to Those Desperate Men Who Smell of Dirt and Death or Those Desperate Men Who Stank of Sweat and Death.

Most people have only seen a cut 90 min version of this film, but there is at least one 102 min version (which is most probably uncut) with a complete English audio available. The cut scenes are discussed here
