This is a fuckin' great movie. And also the strangest Western I've ever seen. The first pictures blew me away. Those jumping, fast cuts at the beginning were so untypical. Great. "The Unhappy place" is maybe the best western town a stranger ever walked in. The two different groups of people reminds me a little bit of the two families in Fistful of Dollars/Yojimbo. And the two indians remind me of the indian guy in Sabata. But it is a very good film, especially the ending is very sinister and bad. Uaha, good. Not as good as the big spags, but close to them, in its way. --Lode 20:49, 7 September 2008 (UTC)

"While Tomas Milian's character in this fim is never actually called Django, the title seems appropriate as a nod to the baroque atmosphere and style which Sergio Corbucci's film brought to the SW. In collaboration with frequent Bernardo Bertolucci-cowriter Franco Arcalli, director Giulio Questi has fashioned the most unusual, the most violent, and the most sensual western that Italian censors of the 60s would allow. Frequently described as "Sadian", this is actually an "art" film that succeeds in entertaining a non-art audience." (William Connolly)

An almost surreal film, and maybe the only anti-western amongst the SWs. Also the only of the political SWs which questions itself and the "message" it has. / by Stanton
