The Film
When Johnny Ashley is away from home, his ranch is attacked by the bandit El Chacal. His wife is killed and his son is kidnapped by the bandit. After a quest of no less than fifteen years, Ashley finds the man who has ruined his life, but by then his son has become a ruthless bandit in imitation of his foster parent. The final confrontation, between a father and his long lost son, will be a very dramatic one …
Comment
The bulk of the movie was shot in 1965, but for some reasons the works were suspended. The film is still tributary to the Hollywood style of film making, but some of the characteristics of the spaghetti western genre start to shine through. Nothing sets it apart among the stream of spaghetti westerns that deluded the market in the mid-sixties, until the last twenty minutes, that are truly memorable. - Scherpschutter
