A list of the best animated opening credits sequences in Spaghetti Westerns, curated by Michael McGleenan. A lot of the opening titles in these films were created with rotoscope technology, read more about that on Wikipedia. This is version 1 of the list.
I'm fascinated by the animated opening credits created for these westerns. The obvious examples are the 'Sergio Leone / Clint Eastwood Trilogy' and the recently re-released 'Day of Anger' movie. I have included the length of time that the animation lasts and placed a score system on the best animation, ranked from 10 downwards. The higher scores have been given to the animation with the best visual impact, as well as the quality of the animation, the length of the animation etc. I reviewed as many movies as possible from my own collection and from online resources. I am sure that there are other movies that deserve to be included in the list, that I have not yet discovered. There seems to be a number of Spaghetti Western trailers with animation sequences but I kept my list to movies with animation in the main feature. There may be trailers that are specific to certain countries and there may also be releases of the same movie that vary in the opening credits. -- Michael McGleenan from Dublin, Ireland.
