Colmenar Viejo is a located 35km north of Madrid. The Dehesa De Navalvillar, is located nearby and it is here that many Spaghetti Westerns and other movies have been shot. It is a natural area located in the municipality of Colmenar Viejo, Madrid. It is located in the foothills of the Sierra de Guadarrama, protected to the north by the San Pedro hill.

It has featured in the epic movies El Cid and Spartacus. The Lega-Michelena western village was located here but now its ruins lie beside a milatary base. The area featured a fort to the north that was designed and built by José Luis Galicia and Jaime Pérez Cubero. Only a few remnants remain of the fort. El Rancho de Cubero-Galicia was also designed and built by José Luis Galicia and Jaime Pérez Cubero. This ranch featured in many spaghetti westerns.
