Many have passed away, and while we are young growing up re-watching all these classics, many more will probably leave us. May they be remembered. Stéphane Audran the French screen star of the 1960s, '70s and '80s, has died at the age of 85. Audran won a string of awards including a Bafta for best actress in 1974 for two films, “The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie” and “Just Before Nightfall”. She was also known for her work with her husband, director Claude Chabrol. The pair made 25 films together during their marriage, which lasted from 1964 to 1980. Audran appeared in only one Euro-western: “Eagle’s Wing” (1979) as the widow.

Former "Tatort" commissioner Jochen Senf has died. Jochen Senf died in a Berlin nursing home in Berlin, German on March 18th. He was 76. Jochen Senf was not only the commissioner, but had many other sides and roles. He was a radio drama teacher, crime writer, founded a children's and youth theater, played in the theater, directed and was a film actor. Senf appeared in one Euro-western the 1994 TV movie “Bluebird” as Silas Ruster.


  • FONTANEL, Geneviève (Geneviève Paule Clairette Fontanel) - 6/27/1936, Bordeaux, France - 3/17/2018, France

French theater and film actress Geneviève Fontanel died in France on March 17, 2018. She was 82. Fontanel won a César for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in François Truffaut's “Man Who Loves Women” (1977). She is also known for her roles in Henri Verneuil's “A Monkey in Winter”, Moshe Mizrahi's “La vie devant soi” and Bertrand Blier's “Our Story”. In 1965, she married the comedian and painter Jacques Destoop, with whom she had a daughter, Isabelle. Her last role was in The Big Girls in 2015, where she played, with Judith Magre, Claire Nadeau and Edith Scob, a quartet of old unworthy ladies. She appeared in the Euro-western TV series ‘Fortune’ (1969) as Jenny Carruthers.

Italian stunt coordinator, stuntman and film actor Angelo Ragusa died in Rome March 14, 2018. Angelo worked as a stunt coordinator, stunt double and stuntman on over 100 films from the early 1970s until today. During that time he also appeared as an actor in over 25 films. Known to everyone in the Italian film business as one of the great choreographers of stunts he was a close friend of Enzo Girolami who relayed to us the passing of this Italian film legend. Angelo appeared in at least three Euro-westerns that I know of: “Keoma” (1976) as a Caldwell henchman and doubled Franco Nero, “California” (1977) stunts and “Buddy Goes West” (1981) as a Slim henchman and stunts.


  • CIACCI, Enrico - 11/21/1942, Tivoli, Lazio Italy - 3/13/2018, Rome, Lazio, Italy

Enrico Ciacci, guitarist, composer and brother of singer Little Tony died in Rome March 13, 2018. This was announced by Pasquale Mammaro, manager of both brothers. Born in Tivoli 75 years ago, he was an excellent guitarist, composer of soundtracks, rock and roll enthusiast, it was he who transmitted his passion for American music to his brother Antonio. With Little Tony, Enrico had collaborated in the writing of songs like Quando vedrai la mia ragazza e Il ragazzo and il ciuffo. Among the films for which he had composed the music, “I’ll Sell My Skin Dearly”, “Marinai in coperta”, Peggio per te, meglio per me”, all in the late sixties. Among his most prestigious collaborations, the one with Ennio Morricone for the soundtrack of “A Fistful of Dollars”, is his guitar that made an icon the music that the maestro created for the film by Sergio Leone. He also played sitar on 1971’s “Blindman” starring Tony Anthony.

Oleg Tabakov, Russian actor and theater director, died on March 12, 2018. He was 82. Born in the Volga River city of Saratov, Tabakov on August 17, 1935, he joined the Sovremennik theater after graduating from a Moscow theater school in 1957. Tabakov performed in both classic and modern productions and also became widely popular as a film actor, starring in many Soviet films and lending his voice to cartoon characters. Oleg appeared in one Euro-western: “A Man from Boulevard Capucines” (1987) in the role of Harry.


  • RAUCH, Siegfried - 4/2/1923, Landsberg am Lech, Bavaria, Germany - 3/11/2018, Untersöchering, Bavaria, Germany

German actor Siegfried Rauch died on March 11, 2018 in Untersöchering, Bavaria, Germany the results of a fall down the stairs in his home. He was 85. Rauch could have become an international film star but did not want to leave his farm and quiet life in Bavaria. He appeared in such international productions as “Le Mans” (1971) where he became good friends with Steve McQueen, “Patton” (1970) and “The Eagle Has Landed” (1976). He became a stable actor in German films and appeared for years on the German TV series ‘Traumschiff’ and ‘Der Bergdoktor’. Rauch appeared in three Euro-westerns: ‘Geronimo und die Räuber (TV) (1966) as Geronimo, ‘My Friend Winnetou’ (TV) (1980) as Old Shatterhand and as Parker in the 1996 film “The Sons of Trinity”

German actor Jochen Baumert died February 18, 2018. He was a German actor who lived with his wife Sigrun in Hamburg -Eppendorf. Born on April 30, 1939, Legnica, Poland, Baumert played in various episodes of the Karl May westerns at the Bad Segeberg outdoor play. From 1982 to 2006, Baumert belonged to the ensemble every year except 1993 and 1998. He always remained true to the comic characters. Sam Hawkens became his best remembered role, for which he was interrupted only by the guest star Freddy Quinn, until his last season in 2006, as a member of the regular cast. According to the program booklet of 1997, he refused a role in the television series ‘Two Munich in Hamburg’, to be able to play in Bad Segeberg.

Actor, playwright, screenwriter and artist Adam Taylor died at his home in Cerillos, New Mexico on December 11, 2017. He was 74.Born Timothy E. Taylor in Hamilton, Ohio on November 21, 1942 his obituary was just published in the Santa Fe New Mexican. Taylor moved to New Mexico in the 1970s and went on to appear in over 30 films and TV appearances. He appeared in six Euro-westerns: “Powwow Highway” – 1989 as Bull Miller, Terence Hill’s “Lucky Luke” 1990 TV series and film, “Troublemakers” – 1994 as Black Jack, Hill’s “Doc West” and “Triggerman” TV films – 2008 as Victor Baker. Taylor played the role of Texas Jack in Kevin Costner’ 1994 western “Wyatt Earp” and was recently seen in “Godless” as bartender Olagrande. Taylor is survived by his son Tristan M. Taylor. A memorial service will be held March 17th at the Madrid, New Mexico Engine House Theatre.

German theater, film and television actress Ilse Petri died in Munich, Germany two week before her 100th birthday. Petri made her first stage appearance at the age of 17 and went on to stardom in theater and over 50 film appearances. She was married to photographer Joe Niczky who died in 1986. Ilse appeared in only one Euro-western: 1938’s “Women for Golden Hill in the role of Margaret.


  • THESTRUP, Ole (Ole Svane Thestrup) - 3/12/1948, Nibe, Denmark - 2/2/2018, Tuse Næs, Denmark

Danish actor Ole Thestrup, who lived on the peninsula Tuse Næs in the Isefjord north of Holbæk, died on February 2, 2018 in Tuse Naes Denmark. Born in Nibe, Denmark on March 2, 1948 he is especially known for his roles in the children's and youth films Rubber Tarzan and Busters World. Later he took on the roles in the movies Flashing Lights and the Green Butchers as well as the TV series Borgen. His lone Euro-western appearance was in the 2005 TV series Det Vildeste Westen as a lasso instructor.
