Germany’s most famous dubbing voice Thomas Danneberg died from a stroke at his home in Wannsee, Berlin, Germany. He was 81. Danneberg was born on June 2, 1942, and was a German actor and voice actor who made a significant impact in the film industry. He was best recognized for his role as Charles Emerson in the 1967 Edgar Wallace film “The Blue Hand”. However, his voice was his passport to fame, dubbing over actors such as Arnold Schwarzenegger, Terence Hill, Franco Nero, Sylvester Stallone, John Cleese, Dan Aykroyd, Adriano Celentano, Nick Nolte, John Travolta, Michael York, Rutger Hauer, and Dennis Quaid. His contribution to the German trance/techno-band E Nomine further expanded his repertoire, marking him as a versatile artist.  
British cinematographer Robin Browne passed away at his home in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan on March 28, 2024. He was born Michael Robin Graham Browne in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, England on November 24, 1941. , was a cinematographer specializing in aerial photography and special effects. His father was Bernard Browne, a director of photography who worked with Alexander Korda at Denham studios. A few of the films he worked on were: “Battle of Britain” (1969); “Catch 22” (1970); t”A Bridge Too Far” (1977); “Krull” (1983); “A Passage to India” (1984); “The Jewel of the Nile” (1985); “King Kong Lives” (1986); “Gorillas in the Mist” (1988). Browne worked as a model unit director and cameraman on the 1986 Euro-western “Sky Bandits”.

He then had numerous roles on the Berlin stage and in theatres in Munich, Hamburg, Frankfurt and Stuttgart. He also had many roles as a character actor in film and television. From 1949, he became the longest active German-speaking voice actor, dubbing Hollywood films into German. In the 1950s and 1960s he was regularly the German voice of Audie Murphy. He also dubbed Anthony Perkins in many roles including Psycho, Steve Martin, Fred Astaire, George Peppard (in the action series The A-Team) and Jerry Stiller. He has also worked as an actor and narrator on radio and audio books. Dux was married to the actress Gisela Peltzer in the 1950s, and then later to the editor Marlies Dux [1945- ] in 1970. Dux’s work in Euro-westerns consisted of appearing as Jimmy in the 1964 TV western film ‘Prairie Saloon’ and he was the German voice of Mark Damon in “Ringo’s Golden Pistol” and Phillippe Leroy in “Yankee” both in 1966. She appeared in several US television guest spots in ‘Baretta’ and ‘Kojak’. UK television roles include costarring in ‘Rock Follies’ and ‘Hitch-hikers Guide to the Galaxy’; TV films included “Blue Money” with Tim Curry, and “Pleasure”. Feature films include “The Great Gatsby”, “Reds”, “Love and Death”, and “Yentl” [in which she worked as Barbra Streisand's understudy and played Sophie, Amy Irving's maid, uncredited]. She wrote several plays and film scripts, and became a film critic in 1988, serving for 10 years as London Editor for Film Journal International. Although he had musical interests, he discarded them because he considered that he did not have enough preparation. He made his film debut in 1967 with the film “Los caifanes”, where his performance as El Azteca which earned him the national Silver Goddess Award. Subsequently, he would obtain other awards and recognitions such as the Ariel. Ernesto’s only Euro-western was as the witch in 2006’s “Bandidas” with Penélope Cruz and Salma Hayek.


Italian actor, author, songwriter and lyricist Francesco ‘Franco’ Migliacci died in Rome, Italy on September 15, 2023. He was 92. Among his successful songs was "Nel blu dipinto di blu". In his career he worked with some of the greatest Italian artists, from Mina to Domenico Modugno and Gianni Morandi. Born in Mantua, Lombardy, Italy on October 28, 1930, Migliacci wrote songs for numerous artists, in particular Gianni Morandi, such as the famous "C'era un ragazzo che come me amava i Beatles e i Rolling Stones", "Fatti mandare dalla mamma a prendere il latte", "Andavo a cento all'ora", "In ginocchio da te". He was the lyricist of songs sung by Mina, Milva, Fred Bongusto, Rita Pavone and Patty Pravo. Other well-known songs include "Tintarella di luna" and "Una rotonda sul mare". In 2003 he was appointed president of SIAE. He also co-founded Mimo Records with Domenico Modugno. Migliacci was the lyricist on the 1966 main theme song “Django” for the film of the same name. The song appeared again in Quentin Tarantino’s 2012 “Django Unchained”.

Born in Glasgow, Scotland on February 16, 1930, and briefly attended art college but dropped out to pursue the life of an actor. After drama school, where he met his first wife Sheila, he began a successful career in the theatre. He was in the British premiere of Arthur Miller's The Crucible in Bristol and played Hamlet at Glasgow's Citizens Theatre. His most famous film role came in 1963's adventure Jason and The Argonauts, where his character is crushed to death by the living bronze statue, Talos. He lived for many years in New Zealand with his second wife Alannah. The couple moved to Glasgow in 2008, where Cairney returned to the canvas, picking up his paint brushes and finding fresh acclaim for his paintings. He is survived by Alannah and five children from his first marriage. Cairney appeared as Grandpa Scott in the Canadian, French, New Zealand produced 1993 TV series “White Fang”.

Born in Genoa, Liguria, Italy on February 22, 1930, Montaldo was still a Turin university student when, in 1950, director Carlo Lizzani gave him a role in the film “Achtung Banditi!.” Montaldo then moved to Rome in 1954, where he worked as a journalist for Italian newspaper Il Tempo and after a few years decided to pursue a filmmaking career. In 1965. That year Montaldo directed the second unit of Pontecorvo’s masterpiece “The Battle Of Algiers” and In 1982, Montaldo directed the Emmy Award-winning mini-series “Marco Polo,” co-produced by Italy and China which played on NBC in the U.S. Later in his career Montaldo was appointed he first president of RAI Cinema, the film arm of Italian state broadcaster RAI, a position he held between 1999 and 2004. Giuliano was an assistant director on 1975’s “The Genius” starring Terence Hill.

He started his career as a Chanson Singer-Songwriter, having given several concerts at the Olympia and Bobino concert halls and wrote several songs for the likes of Mireille Mathieu and Nino Ferrer. He also notably adapted and performed songs for the French version of “Jesus Christ Superstar” as well as the stage adaptation of “The Umbrellas of Cherbourg”. Having trained as a musician also allowed him to sing in his animation dubs (such as Lumière's music numbers in “Beauty and the Beast”, again). He dubbed Arnold Schwarzenegger in the French versions of all his films since 1987. Daniel was also the announcer for the French radio RFM from 2000 to 2008. His daughter, Barbara Beretta, is also a professional voice actress. He quietly retired for health reasons in the early 2020s. Daniel Beretta appeared in one Euro-western “In the Dust of the Sun” in 1971 as Hawk Bradford.
 
Theater, TV and film actress Marti Maraden died on Auguat 31, 2023 while visiting relatives in Sweden. She was 78. Born in El Centro, California on June 22, 1945, Marti helped break down barriers for women as an early theatre director in Canada. She appeared at the Stratford Festival before moving to New York where she began teaching and directing before returning to Canada to become what Stratford called one of the country's most respected directors of both classical and contemporary repertoire. Marti appeared as Margaret Sims in the 1990 Euro-western TV series “The Campbells”.

Born in Groß Nossin, Provinz Pommern, Poland on December 29, 1943, Kluckert lent his voice to many iconic characters, including the radio play hero Benjamin Blümchen since 1994 and Mr. Krabs from the series "SpongeBob SquarePants". He voiced such Hollywood actors such as Chuck Norris, Danny Glover and Morgan Freeman. Kluckert's voice can also be heard in video games like "League of Legends" and anime like "Dragon Ball." Jürgen’s voice can be heard in several of the German translated Spaghetti westerns such as: “Full House for the Devil” - 1969 [German voice of Paolo Gozlino]; “Hey Amigo! Many have passed away, and while we are young growing up re-watching all these classics, many more will probably leave us. May they be remembered.
