Manzanares el Real

Manzanares el Real is a small town 55km north of Madrid. It is one of the most charming municipalities in the Community of Madrid, with the imposing Castillo de los Mendoza, one of the best preserved in all of Madrid. It is surrounded by the rocky landscapes of La Pedriza to the north and the waters of the Santillana reservoir to the east.

It has featured in many Spaghetti Westerns including The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, Django - see photo below, The Big Gundown, The Mercenary - see list below. The open area just north of the town and the reservoir appears frequently in Spaghetti Westerns.
